Art Studio Home

This project proved to be a challenge in the beginning as the lot purchased by the owner to build his new home on was zoned for commercial use. We were the third builder the discouraged owner had contacted for help and welcomed the challenge. Working closely with the City Zoning Dept, we were able to design a modern residence with a small commercial art studio that allowed for compliance with commercial zoning and historical nature of the neighborhood. Requirements such as parking spaces and retention areas required for commercial buildings and a modern design that would tie in with the historical homes proved that an challenge can be overcome. The result is a beautiful, minimalist home with a large working studio so the artist owner can show off is collection of original artworks.
